Hamas leader declares Israel’s ‘political isolation’ during tehran visit

The resolution itself shows that the Israeli occupation is facing unprecedented political isolation, even though it was passed late and there may be some holes that need to be addressed. Due to Hamas demands, Israel deemed mediation discussions for a Gaza truce “at a dead end” and withdrew its negotiators from Qatar’s capital, Doha. An Israeli raid on a displacement camp in southern Gaza resulted in the deaths of twelve individuals, including children. Another twelve people drowned while attempting to reach relief dropped by a US aircraft in the Mediterranean near Beit Lahia, north of Gaza.

Hamas-Iran relations

Despite the UN Security Council’s demand for a resolution granting an “immediate ceasefire” for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which resulted in a “lasting” truce the day before, there was little indication that the fighting in the Gaza Strip would stop. It also calls for the release of captives held by Hamas and other terrorists during the historic attacks on Israel on October 7, however it makes no explicit connection between the release and a cease-fire. Israelis are losing political cover and protection even in the Security Council and diplomatically the US is unable to impose its will on the international community .After more than five months of fighting, the Zionist entity has not succeeded in achieving any of its military or strategic objectives.

Hamas leader’s speech

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the top leader of Iran, also met with Haniyeh and the Palestinian delegation. The head of Iran applauded the “unique resistance of the Palestinian forces” against the “crimes and brutalities of the Zionist regime (Israel), carried out with full support of the West”. After 14 nations cast their votes in favor, the UN resolution was approved. The United States, Israel’s closest friend, did not vote. But an Israeli delegation left Doha without a cease-fire agreement being reached.

The oppressed people of Gaza and the cause of Palestine will receive unwavering support from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Since the Iran-backed organization began an unprecedented offensive on Israel on October 7 that claimed the lives of almost 1,160 people, predominantly civilians, the head of Hamas has made two trips to Tehran. Iran denied any direct involvement in the October 7 attack, but welcomed it as a “success”. Since then, a flurry of attacks on Israeli and Western targets has been carried out by organizations backed by Iran in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. Over 32,000 individuals have died in Gaza as a result of Israel’s retaliatory assault against Hamas, the majority of them were women and children.

Israel’s political standing

Over half of the residents of the enclave have fled to Rafah in southern Gaza, where witnesses said Israeli warplanes pounded the city. Ismail Haniyeh, the political head of Hamas, was in Tehran to meet with Iranian authorities. An Israeli strike on Nabatieh in Southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals.

The Islamic Group’s emergency and relief center in the Southern Lebanon hamlet of Hebbariyeh appears to have been the target of the hit. Three Hezbollah terrorists were killed by Israeli airstrikes near two villages in northeastern Lebanon, according to a message made by the group on Telegram and verified by Israel. In addition, it called for the release of captives held by Hamas and other militant Palestinian organizations during the October 7 incident. About 250 hostages were taken by militants; of these, Israel estimates that 130 are still being held captive in Gaza, 33 of whom are thought to be dead. The resolution passed on Monday was hailed by Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanani as a “positive but insufficient step”.

International response

In Al-Mawasi, on the Mediterranean coast of the beleaguered Gaza Strip, thousands of Palestinians who have been displaced by over six months of fighting are currently living in temporary tents. Many of them were forced to flee the vicinity of the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, which is the biggest region in the territory and is the focus of a continuous Israeli onslaught. Nearly six months into Israel’s indiscriminate assault, twelve Palestinians drowned trying to grab assistance dropped by plane off a Gaza beach, according to Palestinian health authorities, raising worries of hunger. In Beit Lahia, north Gaza, boxes with parachutes drifted down, revealing people sprinting towards the beach, people standing deep in the sea, and bodies being hauled onto the shore in the video of the airdrop that Reuters was able to get.

Conclusion

In the cramped Palestinian enclave, where some residents are gathering weeds to eat and preparing barely edible bread from animal feed, this was the most recent in a succession of instances involving fatalities during relief delivery.
