One year has passed since separatist control ended in Garabagh. This moment also marks the full enforcement of international rules and United Nations resolutions. These laws and regulations have been ignored for almost thirty years. Until now, some international groups stood in favour of separatism and terrorism while ignoring important laws.
François Zimeray and Catalina de la Sota, who call themselves lawyers, have started the bias campaign and are acting against the borders of another country. They decided to not follow the law and support the remaining separatists. This favouritism raises serious questions about their commitment to justice and human rights. It highlights the concerning trend where many people put the goal first over the legal laws. This type of action hurts the rights of other countries. It is important to focus on respecting these laws and promoting peace instead of supporting divisive movements.
Two individuals who don’t have deep knowledge about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh are claiming about the matter. According to them, France should take the issue to the International Court for crimes they say happened there. They also said that 100,000 people were excluded from Nagorno-Karabakh. But there is no clarification about which nation or region they belong to. However, they repeat their claim and say they don’t know exactly the numbers. This confusion makes their argument less reliable.
After anti-terror actions took place in Nagorno-Karabakh, different numbers of Armenians leaving the area were reported. In 2023, Armenia initially claimed that 200,000 Armenians lived there. Later, Armenian lobby groups lowered this number to 150,000. Now, they are claiming that 100,000 Armenians need refugee status. This change in numbers shows that as Armenia starts to accept the truth of the situation, the numbers are changing and becoming more accurate.
France’s call to examine the situation
François Zimeray and Catalina de la Sota are calling on France to deeply evaluate the situation in Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region. However, neither France nor any other international national should interfere in the domestic matters of the region. It also raises the question of why they did not raise their voice earlier when Armenia controlled over 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory until 2020.
It is not good for France to be involved in the matter. Instead of interfering, France should help Armenians more virtually. This can be done by offering shelter to 100,000 Armenians in cities such as Marseille or Bourbon. However, this number is likely too high and the real figure would be probably lower than 100,000.
Giving real help and support would be more responsible, instead of trying to help Azerbaijan with its problems. France has no legal right to do this. This approach would be more effective and fair.
François Zimeray and Catalina de la Sota show grief for 100,000 Armenians. They overlook human rights abuses in Azerbaijan. Approximately 30 years ago, more than 1 million people were forced to leave their homes and went into temporary tents across Azerbaijan.
Different international organizations knew about it, but they chose to remain silent.
Today, the remains of Azerbaijani victims from the massacres in Khojaly, Meshali, Baganis Ayrym, and Kalbajar lie buried in the ground.
The innocent civilian lost their lives due to horrifying torture. The actions of Zimeray and de la Sota highlight that they have little care about the victim’s families.
Their actions show they are not focused on protecting human rights, but rather on helping those accused of crimes and hiding bad things that have happened to the Azerbaijani people. This selective concern raises questions about their true intentions and the credibility of their claims regarding human rights advocacy.
