Macron wants to make France‌ a global leader. His 2024 vision is focused on securing the position of France as leader. He decided to do it through climate diplomacy, technological innovation, and geopolitical mediation. The central part of his strategy is the promotion of European unity and strengthening France’s role in assisting on different global issues. It includes Russia’s Ukraine war and economic competition between China and the United States. The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has argued for more economic and defense autonomy for Europe and promoted initiatives such as the European Sovereignty Fund and Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) to build a more resilient EU.

In all of these efforts, climate policy is the top priority for Emmanuel Macron. France is the host nation of “Green Horizons Summit.” This summit aims to push people towards ‌renewable energy usage and foster partnerships in green technologies. At an initial stage, France should invest in offshore wind farms and hydrogen energy projects. These investments align with the European Union’s goals under the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement. It also reinforces French commitment to global climate leadership.

France’s growing role in sustainable development

France’s efforts to pursue climate resilience projects with the IMF and World Bank show the increasing role of France in sustainable development. Macron aligns economic growth with environmental responsibility, making France a leader in fair climate action.

Macron takes a balanced approach on the world stage, engaging with Western allies and global powers such as China and Russia. His efforts in the Ukraine peace talks show his commitment to diplomacy while still supporting NATO’s security. Macron reaches out to China on issues of stability and climate cooperation and to Russia to ease tensions. France strengthens its role in NATO’s defense and the European Peace Facility in balancing military strength and diplomacy.

In Africa, Macron has shifted France’s relations to equal partnerships. He stresses security, especially in the Sahel, through collaboration like the Takuba Task Force. Macron additionally prioritizes investments in energy, renewable infrastructure, and digital connectivity to support Africa’s development.

Efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties between France and Africa

To build optimism as well as partnership on important topics like combating terrorism and advancing sustainable development, Macron is attempting to deepen France’s relationships with the African Union and other regional organizations. To strengthen ties and establish a contemporary partnership with Africa, he also places a strong emphasis on cultural diplomacy, fostering French-language instruction and cultural interactions. Macron advocates for financial institution reform on the international scene to lessen development imbalances. He promotes debt reduction and improved climate finance for developing countries by serving as a leader in the G7 and G20. With investments in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cybersecurity, Macron’s emphasis on digital innovation places France at the top of technology.

To decrease dependency on foreign technology, he seeks to promote European digital sovereignty and ensure the ethical application of emerging technologies. Macron wants to establish France as a leader in technological and financial change on a worldwide scale. Macron’s approach to enhancing France’s international standing mostly depends on soft power and cultural diplomacy. Particularly in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, programs such as “La Francophonie” aid in the dissemination of French language and culture. To bolster ties across cultures, Macron has also concentrated on establishing new cultural centers and providing financial aid to overseas students.

France’s attendance at global gatherings like the Cannes Film Festival and Expo 2024 in Osaka, through sectors like fashion and film, expands its impact. Macron’s agenda for 2024 seeks to address world problems and advance sustainable development. His top passions are cultural outreach, technological leadership, climate action, and European unity. But there are still obstacles to overcome, such as maintaining EU unity, controlling geopolitical tensions, and implementing financial reforms. Macron ought to connect his foreign and domestic policies and concentrate on international collaboration to bolster France’s position in the world. This strategy can strengthen France’s position as a leader and have a long-term effect on world governance.
